Shirley Jean (Nee: Eversole) who grew up in and later returned to the Cincinnati and northern Kentucky area, died Sunday, the 12th of April. Born on May 6, 1934 in Northern Kentucky, Shirley lived for many years in New York City where she worked for publishing giant McGraw Hill before returning to the Cincinnati area to be with family and friends. Shirley worked for Tressa until her retirement when she began to pursue her BA at Mount St Joseph University. Shirley graduated with honors in the spring of 2012. A lover of animals, UK Wildcat Basketball and crossword puzzles, Shirley was a voracious reader of books and newspapers with a particular fondness for the history of the Ohio and Northern Kentucky region. She enjoyed gatherings with family and friends on holidays and special occasions and loved taking and sharing photos of the people there. She will be remembered as a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to the people fortunate enough to have surrounded her. She is survived by four nieces and nephews (Laura Eversole, Peggy Naines, Bob Eversole and Nick Eversole); five grandnieces and grandnephews (Cassie Gau, Patrick Gau, Anna Eversole, Jay Eversole and Luke Eversole); and a great many cousins (Kathy & Gerry Beckmann, Dottie & Larry Reel, Janet McAllister, Jack & Verna Wetterhan, Martha & Roy Herald, Patti & Mike Flynn, Steve & Rita Wetterhan, Carl & Karen Wetterhan, Geraldine Herman, Clayton & Jean Smith, and Milton Smith). Throughout her life, Shirley also remained extremely close to her childhood friend Natalie Linneman and Natalie’s daughter Norma Haas as well as her good friend in New York Penny Bock.
