Gary G. Thom of Cincinnati, OH passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2020, after a lengthy and valiant battle with cancer.

Gary was born on December 24, 1947, to Dr. James C. Thom and June (Kemping) Volker. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as stepmother June (Penny) Tillman. On September 23, 1972, he married the love of his life, Kathy Walsh.

He is survived by Kathy, his beloved wife of 47 years, and his adored daughters, Shannon (Scott) Kober and Megan (Kit) Hoffman. He was a devoted and loving grandpa to Sean, Caitlyn, Ryan, and Logan Kober and JT, Joey, Jackson Hoffman. Dear brother of Terry (Fred) Rizzo, Holly (Nick) Scheper, and the late James Anton Thom. Loving brother-in-law of Maureen (Tony) Caminiti, the late Terry (Judy) Walsh, Tim (Sue) Walsh, Peggy (Rod) Caminiti, Sue (Den) Tabler, and Michael Walsh. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Gary was a proud US Army Veteran where he served as a member of the United States Army 28th Artillery unit from 1969 to 1975.

Gary and Kathy were long time members of Our Lady of Lourdes parish where they built a life and family on faith, love, and hard work. He coached his daughters’ sports teams, served on the festival committee where he was renowned for running the Bars & Bells booth, played on the Old Timers softball team, was involved in numerous other service activities, and made incredible friendships.

Gary had a long career in the photo engraving industry, retiring from Stevenson in 2014. In retirement, he kept himself busy by finding a job that he loved at Hamilton County Courthouse.

Gary enjoyed every aspect of being a grandpa, and could often be found taking in a variety of his grandkids’ sports and activities and cheering them on.

During his free time, Gary could often be found on the golf course, at the Pit for Elder football games, taking in a Reds game, traveling to fun vacation locales, and spending time with his family.

Gary was loved and respected by all for his kindness, generosity, honesty, and willingness to do anything for anyone.

Visitation will take place on Friday, June 26, 2020, from 5-7 PM at the Radel Funeral Home, 650 Neeb Road, 45233. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 2832 Rosebud Drive, 45238, on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at 10:30 AM. Followed by burial service, held at Old St. Joseph Cemetery.
