Nina Walden

Walden
Nina Smith (nee Cotton) 85, was born in Pikeville , Ky in 1932. She passed suddenly at her home in Delhi on June 20th, 2018.
Preceded in death by her only son Billy Ray Smith, her parents Pearl and Nancy Cotton, her siblings Arnold, Raleigh and Emma, great grandson Steven, and her late husband James Walden.
Survived by her granddaughters Anastasia Smith Murphy (Josh) and Dionna Bennick (Chris), great grandson Matthew Bennick , and great great granddaughter Emmy, (Daughter of Steven), nephews Donnie Cotton and Jim Bob Holland and niece Nancy Cotton.
Also survived by Daughter -in-law and roommate Deborah Ruble Smith Bray, step children Dennis Walden, Marlene Walden Lawson and Brenda Walden Kopittke, and a host of other relatives in the Ruble, Cotton, and Walden families, and last, but not least, her faithful kitty cat Baby.
Nina lost her mother at a very young age, and was raised by her father and brothers, whom she adored and said doted on her, and treated her like a Princess.
She lived most of her life in Chicago, London Ky and Cincinnati.
She was a loving mother who suffered the heartbreaking loss of her only son, yet remained fiercely devoted to her family all of her life. None more than her granddaughters, whom she called the apple of her eye.
She was organized, hardworking and independent, and lived life on her terms.
She loved a good game of Checkers or Monopoly, and didn't mind telling you how easy you were to beat. She also didn't mind telling you when you had gained a pound or two. A lifelong fan of Hank Williams, she loved music, parties, receiving gifts, and being the center of attention. She loved make up and jewelry, having company, and once she started talking, you became a captive audience.
She will be remembered for her humor and her love and devotion to her family. She will be missed by many.
The family will greet friends Friday, June 29th, from 11 am until time of service at Radel Funeral Home, Neeb Rd 45238 Delhi Township. Burial will take place at Spring Grove Cemetary immediately following visitation.
